Just got back from Gadget Show Live....It was great to shake the hand of the Master, and tell him he had a lot to answer for! What a nice bloke - so nice to meet someone so passionate about keeping our addiction to excellent puzzles well fed... [Also got to pick up a shiny new v2, so need to get back into Silver-solving-mode... or as I prefer to call it "running endlessly around the not-a-canyon"!]

They had a few cross-sectioned puzzles for the unsuspecting public to have a play with and get hooked...[imagine two sides of the collar cut away so that you can see some of the core...]

Good to see Barcared in action telling everyone who'd listen just how great these things are... :D

Met a really nice bloke at the stand who turned out to be oyvind82 :P - he'd flown in from Norway for the day to come to the Gadget Show Live and was flying back this evening - THAT'S DEDICATION to the cause! It always amazes me how easy it is to chat to someone you've never met before that you share an enjoyment of puzzles with - despite our differences there's a heck of a lot in common among puzzlers!

Felt honoured to be allowed to have a go at opening the very first Revomaze ever made - handmade by the Big Guy himself on one Boxing day 8-) - managed not to embarass myself and opened it. [From memory there are a couple of shots of it on the pics page - shiny silver collar - 'blue' maze with one or two mods for those who are interested.]

...and best of all, the whole time I was there, the stand was absolutely buzzing with people wanting to have a go and find out what these things were :P :D ...oh yeah, and the rest of the show is worth a visit too... ;)

Just to report that Chris is doing an excellent job at Gadget Show Live and there is a lot of new interest being generated (as well as sales :D )

It was great to see Oyvind82 and Allardwza on the stand and also Bluesign who was also helping Chris out on the stand alongside his son, Michael and 2 young hostesses.

Most people were intrigued but thought they wouldn't have the patience to do it so our main objective was to convince them they wouldn't put it down once they started and there is a great feeling obtained once solved.

I'm looking forward to helping out on Saturday and Sunday and I'll report back next week as to the success stories. I'll also take some photos (unless Bluesign has already done it)

I was going to take some pictures yesterday... and ran out of time... same again today! It's absolutely *mental* busy. I had a very brief look at other stands when I went out for lunch and none were as continually busy as the ReVo stand! There were quite a few people who stayed for quite a while trying to crack the demo mazes.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow of the stand & displays etc for you guys who can't attend. There are a couple of interesting things that I think most people won't have seen before, but not new products as such... I'll try to get some picks of them.

Great to finally meet you and be able to put a face to the name! Did really well today, we should hopefully be seeing a whole load of new members join in the near future!

I have to admit, I think Chris would be served well by making a "Super Easy Maze". None of the little tricks.

Just a straight forward maze, with deadends, maybe one or two traps, but no special features. Just a pure, straight forward maze.

Sure, easier, maybe "not as fun" ... but infinitely more accessible, and likely ot get more people addicted.

A maze that could be solved with some determination in under 20 minutes would be great to introduce people to the RevoMaze with.

------

OOoh, and, I would totally dig getting a half metal / half clear acrylic sleeve for playing with my mazes and showing them off would be great. Or even a full acrylic, clear sleeve, to see what is going on inside, would be fun. Wonder how fast it would get dirty and scratched up though ..

Im not so sure, there were pleanty of people interested in pretty much all the mazes, and those who weren't just weren't interested in puzzles so they're probably not going to be interested in an easier one anyway.

On an almost related topic, I had two people today who insisted on buying a Red Obsession as their first maze... crazyness! Good luck to them though!

I that case, you shold see the demo sleeves Chris/Michael have had made, you'd love them. Gotta be careful not to pinch your fingers in them though because that hurts! (found that out the hard way!)... I'll get a pic of them tomorrow ;)

I have a lot of friends who like mazes, but give up if they don't seem to be getting anywhere within 5 minutes....
