I am saving for a "Exo Terra Mayan Rainforest habitat kit"..until then i have a terrarium set up in Earl's cage...emptied all the dirt out and started all over...bottom layer is "Hydroballs"....then a coconut shell substrate....its 78 degrees farenheight and 80% humidity inside.
i am trying to get the hang of this before i go out and get the poison dart frogs i want....maybe a salamander....terrarium/vivarium is the new craze in my brain....i really like the aquarium/terrarium mixes i have seen online.
heres my "mock up trial terrarium"...until i get my exo terra set up.

the ambient humidity is 40% and it is winter here ...so i started during the hard season but it is going ok...day 4 had mold all over my moss
..but i fixed that problem...the haze on the tank is condensation from the humididty.the only thingi dont have yet is a ultrasonic humidifier that creates a "fog" inside..i am getting one asap as i now have to mist by hand....more to come
i found out my idea of lowering the humidity to stop pinhead(baby crickets) infestations did in fact kill earl....by the book on my terrarium....
