Re: Clear Sleeves

Post by pcad »

I should chime in here.

I bought enough clear sleeves from Neil a while ago to house my CE set. Afterwards I realized that I might want some for other R1 puzzles that weren't part of the CE set. So when Ben / rodrigue10 put 2 prototypes up of sale I bought one. It's also convenient for checking compatibility of the various cores since I have all but one, the Black Ex.

As Ben said earlier, he's made some modifications and I'll check out the second version too.

Since I have some of Neil's sleeves and one of Bens, I can assure anyone who's interested that Ben's sleeve is every bit as good as Neil's are. Actually Ben's is better than some of the sleeves of Neil's that I have. All the surfaces are equally well polished, there's not a single defect in the one I have. Ben uses a smaller set screw which is below the surface of the sleeve which is a nice touch.

Anyone that missed out on Neil's clear sleeves have no excuse for not getting one of Ben's now.

I would have to agree with Pcad. I received one of his recent versions and all of my core's fit in it (blue green bronze silver orange lime red and titanium) as the cores are slightly different sizes some are a bit tighter than others but they all work great. the pin hole is very smooth and gives just about the same feedback as the original sleeve. It was very interesting to solve some of these with a clear sleeve as this is my first. It was very well done with excellent clarity and I could not find a single flaw with it. I must say good gob!

I received two clear sleeves today and they fantastic. They currently house my blue and orange R1s and they work as the originals. Over the moon with them both to say the least.

Thanks rodrigue10 for all your effforts. I'm blown away. :D :D :)
