Actually there's no real need to remove the pin. It doesn't get "more solved" by removing the pin, though I did remove it to see the inner mechanism and to check if my idea of how it worked was correct! (it was... up to a point).

However, when I look into the "hole" on mine, I see a piece of metal with three screws in it ???
I wonder if something shifted during rough handling in shipping, although there was no damage
to the package and it was packed very well.
