Actually, I've seen CT scans where there is metal involved. There'd be so much scatter it wouldn't be usefull at all.

As for MRI's I don't think it would work at all since what is being imaged is the behavior of hydrogen atoms when an incredibly powerful magnetic field is turned off. Of course this process is repeated many times and the result is an alternating magnetic field switching on and off for the duration of the scan. What is being sensed are the weak RF signals that the hydrogen emits when the magnets are turned off. No hydrogen, no RF, no image.

I'm don't know how a revomaze would act near a MRI since aluminum and brass are considered nonmagnetic. The pin and the spring are a differant story. Perhaps the pin would be yanked right out of the sleeve, I just don't know and don't really want to find out.

Ah! I didn't think about the fact that a revo isn't made of ferrous metal! Oops! That would mean it could be taken into the room and put in the machine. BUT I would need a certificate attesting to the non-ferrous nature of it signed by BOTH God and the Devil before a radiographer would let me through the door with one!

It would not show anything because metal just causes huge distortion in MRI images due to the lack of appropriate atoms in it.

Yes indeed it is. I'm sure that piece would be finding a new home very quickly in the presence of an active MRI scanner !

eh? an Industrial CT Scanner would do a good job. Boeing uses a CT Scanner to scan pieces of metal for microscopic flaws. The resolution makes them just jump right out to you. The thing is, medical CT Scanners don't go that fine simply because of the amount of radiation used.
