The ghost cube is probably the ultimate mod of a 3x3 cube! When scrambled it becomes a terrible mess!

First there are no colours to help - it is all done on shape!
Second the axis is twisted - on Oli's pic you can see that the top, middle and bottom slices are at a very jaunty angle!!
Finally (and the real challenge), the remaining vertical slices back/front & left/right do not exist until the top, middle and bottom slices are twisted off centre to line them up!!! This is completely disorientating and means you cannot really plan moves ahead. In fact you can't even see what pieces are in what position easily!!!!

So you are absolutely right - the aim is "to make it square again" but this is quite an understatement. :D

I have the full sized Ghost cube and am just psyching myself up to trying it!
I also have a Master Ghost cube which is the 4x4 version and it is sitting on my shelf making rude signs at me and questioning my puzzle manhood!
I am also negotiating the purchase of a 5x5 (Professor) Ghost cube but as all of these are hand made, they do get very expensive! :o
Do it. Sounds liek the type of puzzle that is value for money xD

I am going to have to get one of these.

Today I have to report that I scrambled and solved my standard 3x3x3 Ghost cube!
It was a bit of a struggle but only took me about an hour! :D

Soon I will throw caution to the wind and scramble my 4x4 version!!
I can still hear it taunting me from inside my puzzle cabinet - it just said something vile about my puzzling prowess! :o :o

Just a bit of an oddity I created a couple of days ago with some bits I had lying around:

Sorry for the low res images, they were taken on my phone. I'll take some proper ones later on with the camera.

Thanks! It worked out much better than expected.

I should add that it is a proper steel short furniture screw, and it is only held in by the threads, no adhesive was used.

Wow i had to double back there. Scrolled down, saw the bottle with a screwdriver in and I was thinking 'wow, oli tried to solve a puzzle with a screw driver, and got it jammed'.

Scrolled back and it looked like a impossible puzzle with a screwdriver thats too large to take out, and oli brought it somewhere.

After a while, I came back and find oli made it himself, and its got a screw making it impossible to take out. That was like a whole new puzzle itself xD
