I think it would be cool to see everybody’s maps in the appropriate opened Revomaze threads; I mapped my blue after a while of fumbling.
It would be interesting to see how close people were to the maze
.
Does "mapping" actually help?
Re: does "mapping" actually help?
i have not used "mapping". the only time i have drawn a map over a revomaze, was when my wife asked me how i knew that i had reached the opening point with the blue(before i received the opening instructions).

my first map was useless, but i discovered a way to make a map so precice it duplicates the shaft. i feel i've gotten amazingly fast times opening the revos

Re: does "mapping" actually help?
I strongly agree with Ade704 and Bluesign,
Drawing the map significantly helped me to 'see' how the green would have to be solved. I am very curious about a future ReVoMaze where this does not work anymore... (bring on the red?)
I drew a ruler on my trainer, which is very convenient to draw the map at proper scale. (cover the ruler with transparent tape to prevent wiping it off !-) With the blue (i.e. without the trainer) I used the edges of the 'nut' as markers to draw to scale.

Re: does "mapping" actually help?
Hummmmm
Excellent idea using the trainer (don't think Don thought of that
) to map the maze
Just a minor point - No aids - trainers, sticky labels, shaft marks or reference points allowed during the live event
Farrell69 and others who do not use marks - open very quickly - like typists who can talk and type - it just comes from feel alone.
How many can open their puzzle under a table so you cannot see your hands?
Most should be able on the Blue but I have not done it on the green yet
Forget the red - you have the Bronze to think about . . . (Someone has asked just to buy the Bronze without doing the Green or Blue - Interesting
)

Re: does "mapping" actually help?
Actually i was thinking they might have an advantage. i mean i dont know what the difference is, but the bronze is a puzzle of its own. so theres no theories carried over from the other puzzles. just fresh thoughts and ideas. i know doing the blue helped when it came to "feeling" the green, but other theories hindered my progress.ReVoMaster wrote:Someone has asked just to buy the Bronze without doing the Green or Blue - Interesting

my maps look like this
^
<
^
> l008se
^
< l8se
etc.
(these a made up,not from puzzle)
i used a copy machine and photocopied the core one nut face at a time then cut it up and taped it all together...in effect i have a flattened snapshot of the core
now thats a map!

I agree - having it to scale isn't paramount although it will help you figure out certain things that will help you solve it.smiteo wrote:the engineer in me wants to map it precisely, but I will try relative guestimation and see how it goes...

well, I've mapped out every turn I can think of, and see a possible way out of the area I'm stuck in, but to no avail... I feel like I'm surrounded!
