i have ordered myself the collectors edition (and im dying to get my hands on it as i only have the black obsession atm) and ive been reading around the forums and and seen that only 35 silvers have been opened so my question is does anyone know how many silvers have actually been sold? and when was the silver released? (as i would like to get a feel for how dificult it would be i know its been knicknamed the B*****D but ive never actually come across a puzzle that ive had significant difficulty solving, so im just keen to get an idea of how difficult it actually is!
As you may know, the CE will not be released until after the Gold has been solved, which could be for up to one year from now.

I believe the Silver has had over 100 people purchase it. I believe the highest number shipped is over 180. On the other hand, I only know of 50 people on the forums with a Silver.

Hope that helps.

Hi RichEA

I would be only guessing in saying that about 250 Silvers are out and about (Mine is #211). It would certainly be "difficult" to solve without any previous EX openings under your belt.

It may be fair to say it is "difficult" in that it takes time to figure out the "path" and the "mechanics" along the way...it is not so much a difficult puzzle in terms of dexerity. Patience and brain power are the key.

Make that at least 350 (I am #332).

The difficulty of the Silver is rising by the post here!

Silver registered has 110 listed,
I know eeffoc has #310, so if you add the final 60 on preorder, there will probably be around 400 made, not counting collector's edition...
edit: Sejunus has #332, so still at least 400 ;)

ahh right nice it sounds good and challenging (as i presume only puzzle enthusiast [i.e. people good at puzzles] would spend £100+ on a puzzle0 and if that many have been sold and only so few solved i think it will be very entertaining to play with :D

While I don't want to get too much into a Silver discussion (I only just started mine after a long-ish hiatus) it seems a prevelant thought is that the Bronze is truly the test puzzle of the series. If you can beat that you can beat the Silver given enough time. There have been some people who get to Bronze and simply can't get to solving it (no naming names! ) so they honestly have little chance if any at beating Silver. If I recall I read on one of the puzzle blogs that NO ONE had solved Silver without first solving Bronze. Certainly makes a strong case for some semblance of completion order.

that sounds like a challenge lol for when i get my ce set but if i did manage to do that would it make the previous puzzles incredibly easy and then take all the fun out of it?

You should do them in order. You learn things as you go. Totally worth it.

Doing Silver first would definitely make the others seem much easier. Total time to solve them all would still be higher though.

yes your probably right and the green blue and bronze wouldnt be as fun to solve then? or even after solving the silver do you still find the earlier puzzles very entertaining?
