Nigel, The website needs an update after this clarification. It's still saying registered puzzles. Since not everyone who has solved one or more is one the forum, we should probably try to get the site updated also.

I know the website has been lower priority in terms of things like opening order, but that really does warrant an update.

Cheers,
Neil

I've been lurking a lot lately but I agree completely. Just let me buy the puzzle when I'm ready and have the experience/journey/challenge when my schedule allows. Every collector knows just because it's rare doesn't mean it's valuable, and vica versa. You can't force it to be collectible.
If you really don't want to sell me a puzzle because you want to make it "special" then as a business man you have to realize you are just leaving money on the table.

I think it’s great that Chris is going to wait to send out the algorithm for the Gold until everyone in the first batch registers them. Unfortunately for some that means that they’ll be holding onto their puzzle for a while before being able to start.

Which brings up an interesting thought: What I really find to be curious is the notion that we need an algorithm to get started with it. What’s to stop someone without the algorithm from fiddling with their Gold in the mean time? I know that the Gold will be a new and different experience, but it is still a Revomaze. I was able to solve each of the other ones without needing any of the clues (web site or forum provided). So like I said, I’m really curious to see how this algorithm applies to the physical puzzle and what kind of limitations we would face if we attempted to work on the puzzle without it.

Maybe it comes in a locked box and the algorithm is the combination for the lock :)

I've been wondering about that too. How do you stop someone from attempting a Revomaze ahead of schedule? Even if it's just completely random chance of opening the Revomaze with out the algorithm it's still a chance that you could open it before everyone else.

One of the things that I really like about Revomazes is that there's virtually no chance of fluking one. If the Gold is going to be the pinnacle of Chris' evilness, then I expect that a random approach is doomed to a long and very painful failure.

...I'm expecting this to be like no other Revomaze we've ever seen before... I could well be wrong (and I'll be disappointed if I am!) but I think this one is going to live up to the hype and prove all of our theories wrong!

(Just my thoughts...YMMV, no insider knowledge, objects may appear larger than they are, investments can go up as well as down, etc.)

My thought is that it is still a mechanical puzzle. There are people here who are very good at figuring out such things without the need for clues or algorithms. We’ve just seen such a thing happen with a different puzzle which is based around mathematical clues and equations where the intended solution involves discovering what they mean and their relation to the mechanical puzzle. But at least 1 maybe 2 people quickly solved it without the use of the clues or equations, just fiddling with the mechanics of it. I have little doubt that these same people couldn’t do the same thing with the Gold and I’m sure they will at least attempt to do so.

It would not surprise me if a few people will have theirs solved before I have a chance to touch mine regardless of the algorithm :(

It could also be as simple as a combination lock on the box or a "proof of life" type thing. I hope it's the former...I've very good with locks

Lets just wait and see what Chris has hidden up his sleeve... he's been quite smug (in a good way) about the algorithm and some method that the batches are started at the same time. He's put a lot of time, money and effort into this one and I have a feeling it's going to be something special :)

Actually, I think, as a group, we prefer to speculate wildly about the possibilities than to sit around doing nothing. If Revomave taught us anything it's that nothing happens unless you have a puzzle in your hands to ponder over.
