Re: Revomaze Book Club
I just read The City and The City by China Méville. The book was totally awesomely weird. Anyone else read it?

Re: Revomaze Book Club
I've heard that China Méville's novels are steampunk science fiction, lots of old world science fiction technology/alternative reality etc, is this the case? I was tempted to read Kraken recently but haven't yet, I've heard it is also a good book.
I also read The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart recently. A very different book, darker, funnier and more historical fantasy horror. A tale about a pair of medieval grave robbers. It was very good and very different.

This one wasn't steampunk, but it may have hinted a bit at it in a few places. It was more serious alternate reality. Like think of taking Israel/Palestine to an extreme, but have them live together and never acknowledge each other's existence directly.mhuti wrote:I've heard that China Méville's novels are steampunk science fiction, lots of old world science fiction technology/alternative reality etc, is this the case? ...I'm currently about halfway through a copy of Cryptonomicon that I received for Christmas - and really enjoying it - thanks smiteo for the recommendation! If you like codes, I also recommend the novel: Cryptonomicon, by Neal Stephenson... good stuff!
