PS3 guy over here, love the bluray. PS3>360. However, i will say the 360 has the edge for the Halo series.
I love the free online aspect, Final Fantasy series, graphics are amazing, blu-ray player. And I've never had any problems with the unit. I have a number of friends who have got the red ring of death and had to send in their 360 for repair.

Re: XBOX live?
Both systems have their issues, and large return/repair numbers. Having been on the other side (partner managed a GameStop) the PS3 is not without fault. It just doesn't seem to have the publicity that the 360 has. Owning both systems, each has its strong and weak points, and I enjoy both for different reasons.
Neither is better than the other in my opinion. As long as the system works when you want it to, and supports the games you enjoy, then its all good. Heck, now that I've finished silver I may even have some time to go back and play a few games again.

Re: XBOX live?
Here's my console list:
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PSOne, PS2 (Modded, plays import and burned disks), PS3 (1st generation, fully backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games), 360
I don't really have a preference between one system or the other, but all my music games (Rock Band, etc.) are on my 360 and all my sports games are on PS3.
A little off-topic, but close enough...I'm building a HTPC and putting it inside the case of an old NES system that was no longer working. All I really have to do by this point is cut out some of the plastic inside the case to fit the new hardware, but it'll look just like a normal NES except for a motherboard panel on the back.

Amiga 600, Spectrum 64k, Dragon 32k, Master system, Jaguar, Megadrive, MegaCD, NES, SNES, N64, Saturn (chipped), 3DO, Dreamcast (x2), Original Xbox, Chipped original Xbox (that I write code for), PS2, PS3 (v1 fully backwards compatible), Xbox 360 (x4), Gameboy, Gameboy Advance (x2 one of which I added a backlight to), Gameboy DS, GP32x (which I write games for), NeoGeo Pocket, PSP (x4)
