thats really close to christmas. since the competition will be tough, it might be safe to assume a late november, early december release might be asking some to part with family time to spend time opening the gold. would revomaze and the rest of the puzzler entertain a January 1st delivery date as a better option?

I think we all have a variety of considerations, no matter when the puzzle is released. My opinion is it should be released when it is ready, whenever that is.

For example ...

If it was released last month, I would have had no time at all to play it.
If it was released this month, I would have been able to put 6 hours a day into it.
If it is released next month, I will have time to play with it over the holidays, but the rest will be spent setting up a new office, so I will have almost no time during the week to play with it, but I will be able to spend about 8 hours on weekends for it.
If it is released in January, I will have absolutely no time to play with it, as I will be dealing with the January/February rush of clients that come in at that time of year.
If it is released in February, see above.
If it is released in March, I will have almost no time to play with it, because it will be H-1B season.
If it is released in April, I will be able to spend about 6 hours a day on it.
If it is released in May, I will not be able to spend any time on it, because it will be RFE season.
If it is released in June, I will not be able to spend any time on it, because that's a peak in clients coming in.
If it is released in July, I will have time to play with it about an hour a day.
If it is released in August, I will have tons of time to play with it because it will be Ramadan and almost no clients come in during that time.
If it is released in September, I will ahve no time to play with it, because of the post-Ramadan rush in clients.

Ssoooo..... Release the hounds of hell when they are ready! Because "when I will have time to do it" is going to be totally different for everyone.

For some reason I can't post to the Gold Release announcement. I agree with ReVoRabbit that at this point the release should just be pushed back to the beginning of 2011. With the holidays coming up and everything that goes with them for many people (a lot of time spent preparing for them, travel during them, time with family, etc) a lot of people are going to be tied up.

I, on the other hand, don't want it pushed out to 2011... some months are good for some people, some months are better for others...

That is how I feel. Just release it when it is perfect and ready to go and the rest will sort itself out. This is not going to be an overnight/couple of days solve from what I understand so it isn't like there will be a mad rush. It will take time to be opened regardless.

As I said earlier, I think the Gold should be released when it is ready. Delaying it so that it conveniences some puzzlers only means that it will inconvenience others, which is no fairer than having it released early.
