Cliche alert!
It's all about Tolkien for me. My favorite author. How could there be any other? The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. All totally re-readable for ever and ever.
The only other writer I care about enoguh to re-read his books is Hunter S. Thompson.

I'm a real fan of Lawrence Lessig's works, but find him to be a bit stuffy at times. However, if you haven't read Free Culture, you are missing one of the most important thought books to come out in the last decade.

Re: Foucaults Pendulum
I tried reading the Island Of The Day Before by the same author - getting to page 100 felt like I had read 1000 pages. I couldn't read on after that and I remember my mum not letting me watch The Name Of The Rose when I was younger. I have heard that Foucault's Pendulum is a pretty damn good book though. I wouldn't recommend The Island Of The Day Before though.

If it's factual/theoretical books were talking about... I really enjoyed reading a borrowed copy of 'Fermat's Last Theorem' about 8 months ago, this should appeal to the puzzlers in this forum, the author (Simon Singh) has subsequently written another book called 'The Code Book' which is on my books-to-read list, has anyone in this forum read it?
Also anything by Michio Kaku is quite thought provoking if you like physics and are not a boffin, I would give you titles but he has released some of his books under different titles in the USA/UK.

Simon Singh? Both those "math" books are quite interesting... If you like codes, I also recommend the novel: Cryptonomicon, by Neal Stephenson... good stuff!

Re: Revomaze Book Club
I have The Lost Symbol at home, and still haven't got around to reading it. I think I might read it when I've finished with my current book
