I don't think you can buy more than one gold before solving it, this was talked about a long time ago on how somone could cheat and get two so they could break it open and know how to solve it. Seeing how solving the gold puts you in the final and Chris shipping all golds I'm sure he has a limit of one till the serries code is found.

You could get the CE or a second later

That presumes the mazes are closely similar, enough to give someone an advantage. I supose that answers the question to some degree. Speaking as someone who will not be involved in the competition. What's to stop someone buying a revo in someone elses name and cutting it open?
I understand the logic behind 1 per customer but where money and prestige are involved people get kind of weird (obsessively) and can't be relied on to play fair.
Anyway enough of that sort of speculation, I am able to buy a second Gold since the first one I have purchsed is in a CE set. I think I might wait and see if any further info appears with regard to the uniqueness of each Gold. :|

im pretty sure that chris is gonna make the paths different in each one seeingt as it is the gold. like was said before, whats to stop someone from buying 2 and reaking one open, solving it on a second revomaze, and say they actually solved it. who is to say that people have not thought about that simply for competition purposes. But think about it based on the gold. if he does that, making them different for each one that is, then no one can try and break one open and use the path to solve a different one. Also, i think it is stated on the site thaat the CE is not being sent out until after the series code is revealed. i think it has been mentioned on the site somewhere.
While we are running the competition, to enable enthusiasts who have registered their puzzles a chance to win a stake in the Prize Fund, we will be releasing the REVOMAZE Extreme Collectors Set shortly after the Series Code has been correctly identified. To Mhuti, my advice, as others have said the gold is gonna b something different. If u have the money, and have solved the others, I would get it. Then of course I cnt give good advice. I'd say speak to those that ordered the gold and finished the previous puzzles. Or, speak tothe mods, they know much more about it than I do. But I can't wait for the gold release

Good advice, but by the time I get to my Gold they may be sold out, hence my dilemma. Having read what Chris has said and what other more estiablished Revo'ers have said (inc. yourself) I most probably will get another once my bank balance recovers from my recent purchases. Call it a leap of faith.

I, like many other Revo'ers, are very confident that the gold will not be sold out previous to next months release of it. Now we r not sure because it is impossible to be sure, but some of us are confident that it won't sell out immediately. Do not forget, 250 is a big amount for the final one. I think I purchased this one simply for 2 reasons.

1: limited amount of them, trying to collect all revomazes
2: uniqueness

I think you'll find that all golds have the same basic layout, I suspect that it'll be the "dynamic" bits (those who have opened the bronze and silver will know what Im on about here) in them that'll make them unique. I believe the algorithms relating to the golds will just determine the positions of the dynamic parts. Don't forget that to make each one individual (even a small change) would require a completely new design file for the machine... the amount this would cost in time alone would make it not worth while.

So personally, unless you have a more particular reason to buy two (like you have two sets, or one set and an CE set) then I wouldn't bother.

So whats the release date?

Post by vonsch »

The last official info I've found in the announcements is:
The new release date for the Gold will be October 25th. This is the date that we will start shipping to those who have pre-ordered.
Now I am seeing the 30th being tossed around. Does anyone know what the date actually is?

Gold Release/Orange Competition Date in Announcements:
RevoGirl wrote:Hi everyone,

As you may know the REVOMAZE was very successful on the Gadget Show this month! This has kept us very busy, and although this is good news, it has unfortunately compromised the time we had allocated to judging the Orange Competition as well as the release of the Gold.

Both of these are important to us and we would like to ensure we have the time to look through the competition entries carefully, so rather than rush the process we have decided to change the end date of the competition, and the release date of the Gold.

The new release date for the Gold will be October 25th. This is the date that we will start shipping to those who have pre-ordered. It is also the date that the price of the Gold will increase, and the pre-order price will no longer be available.

The final closing date for the Orange Competition is Sunday 31st October. The entries submitted by this date will be judged the following week (1st-7th Nov), and the winner will be notified before they are put into production.

We are very sorry for the delay! (Although I get the impression some of you may appreciate the extra time to work on your Orange design!)
Anything other than this is pure speculation from people with no more information than either of us :D
