Yes Jerry, I had to wait for batch two, and I think they all came with the gold anodised rod, with a smiley face on one end and an unhappy face on the other. Of course, as received, it had the sad face peeping out of the hole in the side of the box.

It might be worth emailing Wil to see if he has any spare ones.

Good idea....the normal rod looks so nondescript

Can i just ask, is his Aluminium Cylinder also sometimes called First Cylinder?? Because he's put First Cylinder in his August B Newsletter, but with a linky to Oli's Aluminium Cylinder blog post.

Yes they're the same, the other one is the washer cylinder. I don't have that yet but I can say from experience that the First Cylinder is great. One of my favorites to give to people to try.

I'd personally choose the Washer Cylinder over AlCyl. AlCyl has a clever design to it, but the Washer Cylinder is much better as a puzzle.
