Not sure it would have helped! I didn't notice it this time, but I have seen them in the past (Gadget Show etc.), but that has proved to be of absolutely no use when it comes to actually solving the damn thing.

 If I had not spent so much time on Meyers Cube I might have noticed it! Now I have spent another couple of hours on it(Inc a blister) and still not past the not a canyon.
