Re: British Television --
Tom Baker was the best Dr Who. I haven't been able to get into any of the others.
Check out his novella 'The boy who liked to kick pigs' the man has a well developed sense of black humour. I own it, I love it and have read it several times. Read an excerpt here;

Re: British Television --
The biggest crime by the BBC was to destroy the tapes of Not only...But also. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore are my Comedy Gods (with Peters genius right at the top) and it upsets me to think that I will never know how funny some of those sketches were. Still, what remains of all their work together is well worth a look in if you haven't heard of them before. Especially the Derek and Clive stuff.
Still Game still makes me wet myself though.
Did anyone like Big Train?

Re: British Television --
Agreed, but for the most part audio is the format that you are most likely to find their work. Another Peter Cook audio colaboration to consider is with Chris Morris 'Why Bother'.
One thing though, advice for maztec, in my experience women are less than enthusiastic about Derek & Clive. Most I have introduced to Derek & Clive consider their work to be coarse/vulgar. I on the other hand (as jrainbow83) really enjoy listening to anything by Dudley Moore and Peter Cook and do so regularly.
Yes add Big Train, Brass Eye, The Day Today, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Snuff Box and JAM. For your benefit maztec; a fan site with an overview of most British Comedy, unfortunately it won't tell you which are good but this forum will hopefully! http://www.phill.co.uk/index.html
Given your initial list you and your wife would probably enjoy The Darling Buds Of May, more of a drama really but gently funny and very british, see books by H. E. Bates for more information.

I only recently discovered The IT Crowd, but I love what little I've seen of it. It really feels like a good mix between The Big Bang Theory and the British version of The Office. I may be off with that comparison, since I've only seen about 4 or 5 episodes.
I also started watching Doctor Who less than a year ago, but it has since turned into my favorite science fiction show. I still haven't seen anything earlier than the Tenth Doctor, but I'm looking for earlier series. I'd love to see Tom Baker...heck, I saw someone dressed as the Fourth Doctor for Halloween this past Sunday.
Other than that, I have the entirety of Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD, and am looking for other shows to watch. I'll definitely look into some of the other shows listed in this thread.

IT crowd is brilliant; all on netflix on demand - well worth the investment - especially if you are involved in anyway with IT ... just too perfect.Otakutom17 wrote:I only recently discovered The IT Crowd, but I love what little I've seen of it.
