RAID - wonderful. Also suggest backing up onto CD-DVD or SD Card. If the RAID controller goes - having the mirrow will not help (unless you get two controllers - what the heck have a second machine).

In truth - I found RAID only good in large online time critical data applications where we use to just pull out defective drives and put a new one in without effecting the system.

8GB SD cards are so cheap - and can be stored off site or in a fire proof safe (the ones that automatically seals the door in the event of fire).

I'm stable as anything - I'm on mac. Although I still backup to an external HD using firewire :D

Can't wait for USB 3.0 - it's superfast!!

Hrm now you tell me lol , they shelled out for the two hard drives and controller card. Its an older motherboard.

Although i will reccomend they keep doing the above tips you gave me.

yeah i run a giant quad core mac at work..but pc's at home...broadens my horizons :D
