Hello everybody.
My problem?
I have received a parcel from the USA which is not for me. If the person lives reasonably close by I will deliver it- BUT they are not in the phone book and no-one round here seems to know the name.
I have the senders name and address which is :
A Johnson
44 Barry Avenue
Ridgefield
CT 06877
I would like to email him or her to let them know.
Now even if you don't know the person yourself, perhaps you could forward a copy of this plea to someone who might know someone who might know someone...etc. etc.
My email address is phillip.burley@ntlworld.com
If you think you can help me trace the sender of the package (it feels like clothing), please let me know and/or forward this email to someone who
might be able help.
I heard somewhere that everyone in the world is connected by at most 6 or 7 steps so maybe I'll find out if this is true!
Thanks!
Phillip

Return to sender?

I think it's meant for someone in Nottingham, and he doesn't want to send the package all the way back to the U.S. just to find out for whom it was intended.

Re: Help needed from USA
Hi again.
Just to clarify - the parcel I have is for someone in Nottingham with a similar post code to mine. He probably lives within a quarter of a mile radius, but is not known to my neighbours or the local newsagents. Of course I could return to sender (and will if all else fails) but I would prefer to try to contact the sender by email and help by delivering it myself.

You definitely sound like a nice guy going out of your way like this. It's refreshing to hear.
The only thing I can suggest is that there are several companies based on Barry Avenue (checkin Google), you may be able to get one of them to drop a message to number 44 for you if you give them a call.

Thanks Paradox - I hadn't thought of that!
I have found a business at 10 Barry Avenue and sent them an email.
I'll post any further progress here.

Parcel Success!
I made contact with someone on Barry Avenue. They went to their 'neighbour' at number 44 and I received an email from the parcels sender.
The parcel has found its way to its rightful owner!

Hope they thanked you for all the effort you went to? Above and beyond me thinks!

That's really a rather remarkable story! I guess its nothing earth shattering, but seldom do you hear about people going so far out of their way to help a total stranger help another total stranger!
