Easy-to-find "unofficial" "stands" for Revomaze :)

Post by Razinkov »

Hello :)

I admit that nothing can substitute original wooden stands for Revomaze puzzles, however, I hadn't ever got a chance to buy one.

My simple solution: GLIMMA tealight holders from IKEA

Revomaze puzzles fit these holders perfectly:

:)

P.S. If anyone knows where I can find original wooden stands please share this information with me. :?

Ha! That's brilliant! How stable are they, do they wobble at all?

The wooden stands aren't made anymore for a number of reasons. For a while Chris had some spares but I believe they've all gone now too. There were supposed to be some new stands/case on the way for the Gold but for whatever reason it never happened. That's not to say that they won't be available in the future though.

Yes, they are stable if the surface they are placed is stable. They are also stable when moved accurately and horizontally. :) They do wobble if you move the holder fast and then stop it.

In fact, the puzzle is balancing on its shaft bottom and there is a spacing between a holder edge and the sleeve - it's less than 1mm. I should note that puzzle is much more stable than the previous sentence makes you think - I hadn't even noticed the spacing until I started to examine stability and wobbling on your request. :)

I found this stand to support the whole series.
It's not an official series stand, but it sure looks like one...

Thanks, but actually it is 8 out of 9 ;)

I really expect the handmade to come with more of a stand than the gold did...

They don't wobble until you try to pick one up, that's a bit of a hassle... don't want to drop the one on the top right! The configuration in my signature is slightly more practical.

Anyone who has seen the original stands knows they look good and fit well. i've been stating at a-maze-ing's signature and i keep thinking, we shouldn't be supporting 8 or 9 puzzles on 4 stands. it just isnt right.

So i started thinking and i can up with an idea that i think will look fantastic! i'll need chris to sell me some of the gold Revomaze stickers to make this work, but otherwise, i think i'm going to put my idea into production.

The original stand is great, but is slightly smaller than a Revomaze. my idea is to keep the design, but widen it so that it is the same size as if not slightly larger than a Revo. the vertical arms would be clear and the base itself would be made from carbon fiber. I feel that this will give the puzzle the impression its floating over the aerospace grade Carbon fiber. I was planning on keeping the bezel on the stand, but increase its size so that the sticker can fit onto it. this would make the badge easily readable from both the front and from above.

Why am i sharing? Well, the minimum order of carbon fiber fabric should yield about 60 stands. And as much as I love Revomaze, I do not intend to own 60 Series 1 Revo's, and I assume series 2 will require a different stand.

With this project in mind, and knowing that Chris did state that he intended to supply his new wooden stand design. how many of you would be interested in purchasing a design like mine if i could keep the cost under $10 (not including shipping)?

Assuming there is a good amount of interest, i'd also consider creating a special version made to hold the LE coins in their cases.
