and I know what you mean about tarnishing... I think it's from the finger oil if you aren't good about only holding onto the ends of the puzzle...

I would love to know a way to "undo" the tarnishing without having to buy a new one...

I'll have to be more careful with the green...
it is my assumtion the "tarnishing" is actually the chrome colored anodizing comming off the core from wear...as you all know the cores are a gold/bronze colour before anodizing...thats the current theory anyway :)
revomaze does offer replacement cores, and as i needed ..a replacement sleeve.... ;) ....this is why i play with my test puzzles and the SE but i havent even pulled the core out of my #80 puzzle ..its a collectors piece ;)

Just use some light metal polish like autosol to polish away the tarnishing, it works a treat. :D

[edit] Cleaning uses
White vinegar is often used as a household cleaning agent. Because it is acidic, it can dissolve mineral deposits from glass, coffee makers, and other smooth surfaces.[30] For most uses dilution with water is recommended for safety and to avoid damaging the surfaces being cleaned.

Vinegar is an excellent solvent for cleaning epoxy resin and hardener, even after the epoxy has begun to harden.

Malt vinegar sprinkled onto crumpled newspaper is a traditional, and still-popular, method of cleaning grease-smeared windows and mirrors in the UK.[31]

In the television show How Clean Is Your House?, British cleaning duo Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKenzie often refer to vinegar as a "cheap and cheerful" non-toxic agent for cleaning surfaces, especially glass.

If you dilute it, it works like gang busters on most stuff. gets rid of the oils and minieral build up. take it for what it's worth i guess. ;)

It sounds like you have a revoshaft disfunction. you should cover it in vinegar. (picture of old jewish lady squinting and pincing her index and thumb fingers) and call me in the morning.

next caller ?
