Very clever design there W1se! I like it!
And as it's designed as a puzzle piece I suppose it could also slot together with others of the same design to display your whole collection.

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I feel its time to address this topic and actually resolve it.
I intend to build a stand very similar to the original wooden stand Chris sold. With the noted changes:
1. Wider - I intend to make it slightly wider. Currently when the puzzles are in their locked positions, on the stands, placed end to end, the puzzles touch, but the stands do not. I intend to fix this.
2. Clear Design - To me the wooden riser or support cradle impedes the view of the puzzle. I intend to make them smaller and clear.
3. Material - As I've mentioned before, instead of wood, i intend to use carbon fiber.
4. Padding - The wooden stands use felt on the underside. My design would be hollow and would have no padding. Although the certs, maps, and coins could be stored here.
5. Cost - If i remember correctly (please correct me if i'm wrong), the wooden stands were priced at about $8 each. I intend to offer these for about $10 plus shipping. No tax.
6. Branding - Currently I've made no attempt to discuss getting the gold "REVOMAZE" stickers to add to these, however i intend to do so. Worst case scenario, I am hoping Chris allows individuals to purchase them separately.
What I need to make this happen:
I have worked with fiberglass quite a bit over the last few months and feel that I now possess the capability to make a quality carbon fiber product. The problem with carbon fiber is that the initial start up costs are considerably more than they were with fiberglass. If it is within the tolerance of this forum, I'd like to solicit for investors.
I am looking for 6 folks willing to invest $50 each to kick start this. In return, you will be the first to receive your stands. Not to mention, I will furnish you with one stand for each Series I Extreme puzzle type you own and one for each puzzle type receive from Revomaze.co.uk. This means if you purchase future puzzles or earn puzzles through tournaments, you will be supplied a stand for those as well as long as they are all part of the Series I Extreme set. This includes the standard set as well as the black, red, orange, titanium, and handmade; plus purple, lime, or any other colors Chris might announce/create if any.
The goal would be to have these shipped before the end of September, but before the holidays start as a worst case scenario.
If you are interested in the stand, please post below. If you are interested in investing, please post or PM me, whichever you feel comfortable with.
PS. Please note, this is an investment in making an idea a reality and is based off of good skill and best intention, and does not guarantee a successful project.

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
I've had some good questiions and it made me think...
I may be able to do a fiberglass prototype, although prototyping is where the expense comes in.
even if this project "fails" stands should be created either way. those stands will go to the investors.
in addition, customization may be available:

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
Not knowing anything at all about cardon fiber or fiberglass I do think its a good idea.
Quick question, is carbon fiber machinable? ie. could a milling cutter be used to add an indent for the badge?

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
Casting CF requires a mold, so we have two options. either cast it with the indent or cut a hole out later.
When CF is made, the material has to extend beyond the mold edges and then using a tool like a dremel, it has to be cut down to shape. so yes, in that manner, it is machinable. however, one could not cut partially through the CF, it would just make a mess.
Although that gives me some cool ideas. what if we carve out the revomaze "R" and then add a light under the stand? the glow would come through the "R"... that could look pretty sweet. we could also add a sheet of colored film from the underside to make each "R" a desired color.

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
Hey folks, I'm moving this to its own thread as I feel it will have enough interest and isnt really in the realm of custom designs, which is what this thread is really about.
Please note: if you have a custom design that you are interested in having don in CF, I'm willing to give it a shot.
The new thread is over HERE

Re: Custom Made Revomaze Stand
reviving this thread a bit to show off this stand idea i just discovered, even though its not "custom made". for those that don't know what this is, it's called a Jigger (at least where i come from) and its used to measure liquor when preparing a cocktail, for example. the mazes fit perfectly in these things and are quite resistant to toppling over. it also has that chrome like finish which matches the shaft quite nicely. just thought i'd share this with everyone.
