Which Popplock is your favourite?

Post by Paradox »

I thought out of curiosity it would be interesting to see which Popplock others would choose as their overall favourite to date. So here is that question asked in poll form.

Obviously some of us may not have solved or seen all of them yet, but I thought it would be interesting nonetheless. :)

Ask Ali nicely and you may just get to see all but one of them at the next MPP. ;)

T3, T4 and T5 are all close contenders for me. I think T4 just gets it for me though.

I like all the Popplocks, even the T7 which received some negative feedback. But if I had to rank from T2 to T7...here is my list from most favourite to least:-

1. T3
2. T5
3. T2
4. T4
5. T7
6. T6

T6 for me is last because it lacks the kind of exquisiteness and craftsmanship the rest of the range has....in terms of size, materials and overall quality. This is not to say the T6 is poor in quality, not at all, its still well made...but just not in the usual Popplock style and tradition.

I'd like to see just one of them. Unfortunately they only puzzle lock I own is DanLock. I say unfortunately only in the sense that I want more, not to show under appreciation of the DanLock.

I think the T6 is really great as a puzzle lock because its affordable and certainly not trivial.

In order it's very hard to choose but maybe

1. T3
2. T6
3. T4
4. T5
5. T2
6. T7

Oh and yes I will bring them to MPP and a DanLock as that is up there too

In terms of pure puzzling, the Danlock wins hands down for one reason. This is a puzzle which is made from a purchased lock. This is not manufactured from the ground up as a puzzle lock, but starts life as a fully functioning lock.

Please don't let that sound as though I am taking anything away from the Popplocks of which I own several, but from a 'how the heck did he manage that' perspective, the Danlock is special.

Anyway, back on Topic ....

The T2 is up there for me of the one's I own. It's a bloomin' tough lock to crack, and has all the core values that the Popplock has become known for.
