Impossible Playing Cards

That's impressive, I can barely even tell where you folded it. Just makes me want to see the other side!

That's right, most cards still look impossible when inspected up close and in 3D.
For the "really impossible ones" I wonder if they look 'different than they initially suggest' when inspected up close and in 3D.
Are they a different kind of illusion (still no glue involved, but only to be viewed on pictures or while framed), or are they folded in a smarter way than I can think of (which would be awesome)?

Are there three folds along the middle line? Hard to tell in the picture but in order to make it at all "impossible" I'm guessing there has to be.

One fold. The centre strip of the card is holding things together. You can just see the cut marks at the right centre of the card. That's the thin strip that the rest was folded around.

That's how I made it Those cuts give it away I suppose. I'll be more careful next time ..I don't know if there is another solution - I'm just looking at other peoples photos and trying to reproduce them.

Yes I wonder this too. Some of them are very tricky folds which actually work, but others do not seem possible at all to make that way . My attempt at this next one would "look different" when fully inspected. No glue here, and the folds are intact:

I have to say out of all the ones you've posted, that last one is my favorite. The simplicity of it makes you at first think "yea ok what's so special" Then a few seconds later the impossible aspect clicks. Very cool.

That is one example I have been trying to 'fold' without success.
I did manage to create it in the end, but the method feels like cheating to me.

When I get home from my holiday I plan to 'make' some of those really impossible cards and frame them.
Now who dares to make a statement about which category the Olympic rings would fit in?

Did you see the YouTube video by IanSW16 showing his Swirlygig and the 'explanation' of it?
It is a different 'trick' from any of the cards I have seen in this topic so far, and I think it is great.
Even after seeing that video it is a very tricky card to produce!
