I seriously thought of it, as it would be great on my desk. Alas, you already far outbid my interest in it.Paradox wrote:I'm only going for the one puzzle at the moment:
Contrary Card Case (MY-6)
If anyone else here is going for it do let me know and we can discuss max bids to avoid spending more than necessary. Even though it's likely to go much higher than my max bid anyway.

Well I'm going to have a go for Cube Box (M-34) but we'll see how stupid the bidding goes I suppose

Re: It's BAXTERWEB time!
Hi, all, I am new to puzzle auctions. I would love to bid on a couple of items, but they are already near what I would be able to pay for them, and I have noticed that what goes for $500 one year sold for $85 the next! I would really like to know how often are these auctions run? Once a year, or more often? Also, do the same range of puzzles go up on Cubicdissection, and how often are they run?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure, but you are right that prices fluctuate wildly.wallum wrote:Hi, all, I am new to puzzle auctions. and Argh WTH? Can you retract bids on Baxter? Eight items that I had fallen behind on now show me as the only bidder, or did someone get disqualified booted?

Baxterweb has been running since March of 2006, and it is currently running phase 25. I'll let you work out the math because I'm too lazy.wallum wrote:Hi, all, I am new to puzzle auctions. The variety of puzzles is always greater on Baxterweb, and the prices tend to be higher than average on most occasions in comparison to Cubic or Paradise. Although this could be because of the Baxter style of auction where the lot doesn't close until there are no more bids placed for a certain amount of time. Either way you will generally find the rarer puzzles for sale on Baxter.

Re: It's BAXTERWEB time!
Thanks Maztec and Paradox,
So it sounds like the auctions might be a quarterly thing, if they are regular. Hmm. On the one hand I would love a Roger puzzle, but on the other I am saving up to buy a milling machine & lathe. I still have a few days to decide, and I guess there's always next time
By the way, I love your blog, Oli, it's kinda what got me hooked on puzzles in the first place, so I can blame you for my plummeting bank balance
I have really enjoyed my introduction to the puzzle community, you all seem like a great bunch, and I love all the blogs and forums. I just wish I lived closer to Europe (or US) so I could go to one the Puzzle Paries, they sound awesome. Oh, and I have my first Revomaze on the way....
can't wait! I would love to order a Bronze but feel like I should wait till I have had a go on the green first...
Sorry, back to topic...How are your bids going Maztec? I hope you don't have an angry wife in a few days!! What items did you bid on and I'll see if there's anything I want..

I'm down to $78 in bids :p. and expect them to go to 0 fairly soon.
Milling machine and a lathe before puzzles in my opinion. Then you can make your own.

Go for the machines! That way you can start making new puzzles for all of us to play with.wallum wrote:On the one hand I would love a Roger puzzle, but on the other I am saving up to buy a milling machine & lathe. I still have a few days to decide, and I guess there's always next time

Hehe! Funnily enough you're not the first person to say that. Or the second. Or third....wallum wrote: By the way, I love your blog, Oli, it's kinda what got me hooked on puzzles in the first place, so I can blame you for my plummeting bank balance

On the topic of the auction; I currently have three bids still running on Baxter. Two are pretty close to the mark and I expect to be overtaken very soon. And the other is doing okay for the moment. But I'll just have to wait and see I guess. I'm not putting any more bids on or increasing them any further.
