Thanks! I actually prefer that layout for the inserts but like the wood box with the new one better.
As far as I remember the standard way these sets were going to be delivered was with the shafts out of the sleeves like in that picture. My asumption was that if you wanted them assembled you would have to request it. But now that I see this picture (and the main site has been updated with it) I'm not sure anymore.
The discripton for the set still states:
"The puzzles are "Disassembled" to allow the collector to display the unique maze path within the puzzle or alternatively they can be assemble and solve. The mazes are accompanied with all the maze maps and a booklet explaining the story behind each puzzle. The Collectors Set also includes an exclusive certificate showing all 6 individual certificates and all 6 maps on a single sheet to be framed."
I hope this is still the case. Should those of us who still want disassembled sets email Chris or Joseph about it?

Re: CE delivery status thread
Maybe only the maze pins are not inserted, so they are open.

I was going to express my concern about where the cores would be stored. The safest place to store them would be inside the sleeves. I think your idea of leaving the maze pin out would work perfectly.

Re: CE delivery status thread
Like dorothea said for those who did not request the puzzles assembled the pins will probably not be inserted (as the ce sets are suppossed to be dis assembled)
here is a quote from the email with that pic
''Please find attached a picture of the Collector Set case all of which are here at HQ I am just waiting on our engineers to supply the puzzles.''
this to me indicates that that case is the case for all sets so the only way in which the puzzles can come disassembled is to not have the pins in.
And Just my opinion i much prefer the new layout to the old 1 as i think a revo looks much better 'assembled' than disassembled

Re: CE delivery status thread
I don't like it at all and really hope they have a different insert ready to go for displaying the cores out of the sleeves like the original concept. I want "to display the unique maze path within the puzzle" which is what I ordered and paid for.

Re: CE delivery status thread
How will you display i.e. the silver core with all his tiny parts ?
For my own use i bought some acryl tubes, cut them and polished the cuts.
But the diameter doesn't fit perfect, so for silver you have to be very careful.

Re: CE delivery status thread
but if you plan on displaying the mazes in a case (like the original) you will never be able to see the whole maze thus defying the point of displaying it in the first place because to view the whole path you will have to pick the core up to view it an is it really all that difficult to pick up the sleeve containing the core and then remove the core to view the maze when no pins are inserted?stet wrote:I don't like it at all and really hope they have a different insert ready to go for displaying the cores out of the sleeves like the original concept. And also the case has never been a display case but a case for transporting and storing the set because who would want to put foam inserts on display?

Re: CE delivery status thread
I would display any core without little pieces (if not practical) just like what people (including myself) have done at times with solved puzzles. Keep any little pieces stored somewhere safe in a bag. There has been some discussion about how these puzzles would be shipped in their disassembled state and the general consensus has been that the any small pieces would be shipped off of the cores. Maybe there would be a place in the case insert for these pieces.
Anyway, I emailed Joseph about this stating that my intention is still to receive my gold plated cores out of the puzzles and that I want to display them in a case similar to what has been shown up to this point with the cores next to the sleeves.
I’ll post whatever news I get.
As I said somewhere above, I do really like the new wood outer box for the new case, I just want a protective insert like what was original shown for keeping the sleeves and cores separate and scratch free.
If needed I am willing to wait longer to have one designed and made. Since I am getting gold plating I expect to have to wait longer anyway. I would also be willing to pay a bit extra for something like this (after all, I paid extra for the gold plating too).

Since I am getting gold plated cores I would rather have the cores out of the sleeves for transport since otherwise the metal on metal rubbing will scratch the nice gold plating. Also, I have other expensive puzzles which came in display boxes which use precut/preformed protective foam inserts and they look nice. I thought the picture of the original case looked great and is something that I would use to display the puzzles.RichAE91 wrote:And also the case has never been a display case but a case for transporting and storing the set because who would want to put foam inserts on display?
