We are now selling 20 V3 Blue’s for people to try out. The first 20 will be ‘special edition’s’.
Just ordered. :) Will I need to use my own allen key or does it come with one? :?: :D
Hi Mark,

At the moment we are sourcing the allen keys! Trying to find where is best to get them from.

The allen key needed is 1.5mm.

Many thanks - Amelia :)

why is this a ‘special edition’s’? What make it special when all puzzles will get the same core design?

Hi Peter,

We have decided that the first 20 Blue V3's are special edition because they are the first of the V3 which we will release.

Yes, you are correct that all puzzles in the future will have the V3 core but at the moment the first 20 have been produced while the V1's are still available to buy.

Kind regards - Amelia :)

Will the cores be brass and unplated moving forward or is that just for the first 20? Steel pin is harder than brass unplated core will cause issues down the road that we have seen in Handmade.

Hi,

Moving forward all of the puzzles will have a V3 core, we are looking at swapping them all over around the Christmas period! We can electroless plate the maze which doesn't add any extra material and we may look into the cost of this sometime in the future. The whole point of using un-plated brass is to make the maze more accurate to specification, this will stop people getting into areas they are not supposed to due to the extra material on plating.

Many thanks - Amelia :)

It will be accurate in the beginning but with use will become less accurate due to the softness of the brass.

Amelia, go get a book on Metallurgy and Rockwell Hardness of metals and Heat Treatment. Ask Chris he probably has one. You will then know what we are talking about with a soft brass core and a hard pin. Just an FYI. Oh, how can you tell a V1 from a V3? Is it visually different on the outside? KIRK

True. But wouldn’t it stand up to ‘light’ use such as the Revos? There isn’t any need for force. Or do you anticipate that the higher order mazes will have thinner walls, thus making bronze a poor choice?

Aluminum is definitely out; an unnamed manufacturer of an ‘orb-like’ puzzle uses aluminum and it scores so easily due to the forces required (just saying... ).

I've had no issues myself with my hand made, though it has not been played much.
Reading the progress threads I do not see any complaints

Being unplated itself seems a good comparison - they did not disagree on FB

If no one had huge complaints there I see no reason why it should not stand up here. Unless one is using excessive force often or something...?

I have many brass items and it takes quite a bit of force to make a mark. What do you guys do with your revos that would warrant a stainless maze?
Seeking:
Black extreme (not merc), Red (extreme), Ruby, Peach
Ramisi5, devil isis, devil copernisis (or other harder variants)
