My modification doesn't bypass the maze at all and wouldn't help get the core out without solving the maze. I created a groove in end of the shaft that allows the core to be removed in much the same way the V2 obsessions work. While I don't mind a groove on one end, I'm sure others would. If I can get the photos into a post I could show you what the Delrin version of the Black looks like without others putting a groove in theirs.

The pictures of the core of the Black V1 Obsession are in the Black Obsession Open forum. I can't post them here and I don't have access to the Black Extreme Open forum which I find a bit useless since I've seen the maze in all it's glory.
