Re: Cleaning and Lubing
I belive I found a grease that works very well for me.
It's a big orange tube where it on one side says:
General-Purpose:
Aircraft grease
SPEC MIL-G-81322
and on the other:
MOBILEGREASE 28
The grease itself is red
It's a very old tube which my old man had in his garage, he is an old aircraft technician.

Re: Cleaning and Lubing
I also worked on aircraft and i seam to remember that a grease closely matching that description came out as being very Carcinogenic.
You might want to check that out before you get too carried away with it.

Re: Cleaning and Lubing
Thanks for the headsup, I looked into this and it looks safe ie. http://www.msdshazcomonline.com/MSDS/HM ... rds%20Data
But as always with stuff like this caution is advised, in my case I have only put a small amount in the tracks and nothing around the shaft.

Re: Cleaning and Lubing
see the problem is this guys.....ahh general..this wont be easy....at the solution point there is a need for the maze pin to "relocate"...if there is too much lubricant or a thick grease the "opening instructions" for getting to the certificate may be harder to manage..is that vague enough for general?..i hope
long story short...light on the lube, light on the "weight" of the oil...
i was wrong and hadnt thought of the "pin issue" until "The Master" alerted me to this
if you do use a heavy grease you will have to give the pin a little more incentive to do what it is supposed to do to reach full disassembly status.
RM:feel free to edit anything that is too much info

Re: Cleaning and Lubing
i opened my revomaze to show my step dad and his friends the setup of these puzzles. they are all machinests by trade and make aircraft, marine and prototype parts. they were very interested in the machining and explained to me the complexity of the machine required. at least a 4 if not a 5 axis machine was neccessary. with the shaft plating and the anodized body, they told me that lubrication shouldnt be needed as these are puzzles not continuous operation parts.

Re: Cleaning and Lubing
very interesting!....
the oil helps the puzzle user to slip into the abyss more easily as well.
but the puzzle sure does feel silky when its oiled!
