Just bought the new dan brown book (The Lost Symbol)!!!

First page is as follows:

FACT:

In 1991, a document was locked in the safe of the director of the CIA.The documnet is still there today. It's cryptic text includes refrences to an ancient portal and an unknown location underground. The phrase also contains the phrase.. It is out there somewhere.

All organizations in this novel exist including the freemasons , the invisible college, the office of security, the SMSC adn the institute of noetic sciences

All rituals,science,artwork, and monuments in this novel are real!!



How amazing does this sound. My dad is a freemason and a fairly high rank aswell, never know what he gets up to though....

As a master mason myself, I am always intrigued by the method in which masons are portrayed. some good, some bad, some just informative. then again i guess thats the way things are supposed to be.

i'm not much of a reader, but i might have to pick this one up to see what they say about us .

Matt- What is your dads "rank"? if you dont remember, whats your best guess?

Ok spoke to dad.

He was the Master of his lodge but you can only be a master for 1 year. You must then decide who will take your place.

After you have been master you can then go through the higer "ranks".You also recieve a medal which must be worn we attending meetings.

He him self is "London Grand Rank" because of this he wears slighlty differnet attire. Rather than the normal robes he wears a Purple one and has this like this wool thing that sits over his shoulder's this has gold lace going around it because of his positon this doesnt if you are a normal member.

After "London Grand Rank" you will become "Senior London Grand Rank" this is very hard to get to and few people ever reach this. There is one or two past this but are unheard of. People who make these ranks are Dukes and Lords, people of very very high sature in society.

totally for got youre from the mother land. sounds like hes part of grand lodge. i'm pretty sure masonry is just the blue lodge, although i may be wrong. blue lodge goes up to 3rd degree or master mason. in the US we have scotish rite and york rite. scotich rite goes from 4th degree to 33rd degree, but 3rd degree is still considered as high as one can go. after completing the ranks of either of the rites, many masons chose to go on to the shrine. so we really have 4 masonic branches here.

Matt, why did you never follow on your fathers footsteps and become a mason as well?

my husband is a master mason as well. He loved the fact that in the US there are road side markers displaying lodges, we don't have that here it, you could walk right past a lodge and not know what it was.

i thought a master mason was a old bricklayer...like construction

Ohh, I just got my copy in today. Too bad it'll have to wait 'till I finish the book I'm currently reading, but I'm looking forward to it. As for masons, my grandfather is a mason but I'm not. I have debated on having him bring me in. Of course if I got in I would want to be in the "inner circle" where all the cool stuff happens, if you believe the rumors and theories
