Cleaning your metal puzzles

Post by Rdroege »

I was wondering if anyone has tips for cleaning metal puzzles. A lot of my Popplocks have started to tarnish, as well as other metal puzzles. My concern with a polishing paste is getting it in the internals of the lock...

Once disassembled to obliterate grease and muck use soapy water and a scrubbing brush on the maze. Put the washing liquid on the brush itself and rub it in and dry thoroughly. If there is no ball bearings add a little bit of grease in one of the reset lines and reassemble! :) It shouldn't take too long but it definitely makes a difference once it has been done. :)

What brand of grease do you recommend? I've seen some mention 3-in-one on here before. I've noticed some of mine feel a bit like they want stick or not slide quite as smooth after cleaning. Thanks!

Here is the link to the grease that we use: https://cpc.farnell.com/carlube/xmg500/ ... 0Chemicals

LM2 Multi Purpose Lithium Grease

Just a tiny bit of grease will do. :)
