It's time to start planning the biggest and best Puzzle Party yet - MPP 3!
I propose 2 dates and whichever is the most convenient for the majority will be the one we choose. The dates are either Sat 18/06 or Sat 25/06. Venue TBA depending on numbers but will be South Birmingham or North Warwickshire.
We will have a couple of competitions with prizes and we will get some lunch somewhere in the middle (if we can pull ourselves away from the puzzles that is!)
I would appreciate your thoughts as to whether we want it themed ie Burrs, Interlocking, Packing etc to avoid overkill on the puzzles and reduce the amount of table space required. If not, then we need to avoid repetition by advising beforehand of the puzzles we intend to bring.
There will be some absolutely fabulous puzzles at this one so all are welcome including any overseas visitors.
Look forward to seeing you all in June and let the madness begin!!!

Sounds like a plan - unfortunately I won't be able to make the 18th as I'll be on a boat somewhere south of Venice with my lovely wife...
I like the idea of having some sort of theme or even getting someone to do a short talk - the best idea I saw was from (I think the Rochester PP) where one of the guys did a short talk around 10 puzzle-related questions, e.g. favourite puzzle in my collection, hardest puzzle in my collection, most expensive puzzle, oldest puzzle etc...

Great idea! I'd be happy to go first. I don't have a wealth of puzzle knowledge or a lot of high value or rare puzzles but my collection is now 350+ and there is plenty of scope to talk about budget puzzles alongside the more collectable pieces.
I will try to keep it to around 15 minutes and base it around a standard 10 questions. My addition to the above mentioned questions would be:
First puzzle in collection/why started collecting?
Most fun puzzle?
Best reaction to a puzzle? (ie Elusive 'E'

)
Please add other suggestions so we can get a definitive list

I'll definitely be attending the MPP3 if you guys will still have me.
Either date should be fine with me I reckon, although it would be good to see Allard, so I'd go for the later date if it's possible.
A theme's not a bad idea, and I like the idea of a short talk from a puzzler as well.

18th is best for me as I have a prior booking on 25th!
Surely we must have a date Allard can manage - he has the biggest and best puzzles to play with and he really wants to see the maze burr! It ha only been 2 months since the last one - it could stand to wait until July!
Not sure about a theme - I love burrs plus I do have the Maze burr to bring along. How about "interlocking puzzles"? This would cover burrs, take apart puzzles, put together puzzles and even (at a stretch) disentanglement puzzles (I do have the full collection from Livewire).
I'm not fond of packing puzzles (although I concede that everyone should have at least 1!

Hi all, at this stage June is good for me. I will be away a couple of times in July but awaiting the dates.
Nigel the talk sounds a great part of our day.
I also think a format for the party is worth while. I need to take notes because I liked a couple of puzzles at MPP2 but forgot the names of them so next time I'll make a note

Both 18th and 25th of June are impossible for me to arrange.
2nd of July or 6th of August are practically the only options for me within 4 months, so I may have to skip this time (and buy myself puzzles in stead of tickets). That would be a pity, but if the MPP becomes a 2- or 3-monthly event then I am bound to miss a few anyway.
