Another set of excellent books is The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and the Frankenstein series by Dean Koontz.
I plan on getting the three books for this series. I have seen the first two movies, but I have also seen several books turned into movies that did not even have half the characters from the books, Eragon for instance.

Re: The lost symbol !!
yes i also love Koonts...i have read the Dark Tower books as well.
the main reason i am so attracted to the HP series is the similarity in childhoods i had with harry....the LOTR movies didnt do the books justice at all....i sure hope tim burton does better than that with alice in wonderland....
Where the red fern grows....was my childhood favorite book.
most recent readings would be : The Quaran
You see bones,I see an Army
The shack
i reread HP & the deathly hallows in 3 sittings recently just to reread Snape dying because i was ****** he killed ....well i dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasnt read it but you know what i mean
forgot he loved lilly
the worst movie to film book conversion i have seen in a while was "the divinci Code"
hell, even "National Treasure 2" was better i thought!
The Divinci Code Novel really interested me...the movie made me tired.
the satanic bible was a pretty good read, for a good laugh at how pathetic satanist are
i still love you satanists even if you are ...welll....satan lovers
I am about to start the new Dan Brown book.....it looks really good
oh yeah,i forgot....also recently read
The Tales Of Beedle the Bard
Mystical Creatures and where to find them:Hogwarts library book
Quidditch through the Ages:Hogwarts Library book

Re: The lost symbol !!
I have read through the Dark Tower series maybe 5 times. Mostly because when he was writing them there were huge gaps between the release of the books. Which is also why it is not as popular of a series.
I would even say that they would be more popular than Harry Potter if he (King) had been a little more active about releasing them. But then they might not have been as well written.

Re: The lost symbol !!
maybe we just need a DT movie to get them kicked off again. I'm not much of a reader. certainly not a SK reader. he gives me way to much detail and i get bored. but i did like what i read from the DT series.

Re: The lost symbol !!
Anyone read the Golden Compass series? Personally, I found them quite good - and almost as hard to put down as HP. Have not read Dark Tower, but talking about it here is intriguing me..

Tell her they are fiction and are interesting, but the writing style is weird.
Or, if she is that uptight about killing God, tell her that God already died for her sins ... well, I guess that works if she believes in the unity of the holy trinity. If you are offended by this statement, then I apologize to cornettracing80 & wife.
But really. They are interesting books. I'm really not sure they are about killing God, so much as a good ride in fantasy with a multi-universe syndrome that crosses into ours.
