The new guy Fabregas485 wins the pool for the most accurate guess of the final price of £500. Actual price £455 which is just over $700 USD.

OK there wasn't a pool but he certainly nailed the going price.

$710 - that makes the $249 I paid Puzzlemaster a couple weeks ago for a Red look like a good deal - even with the $61 I paid for 2-day shipping.
Obsessions:
Blue, Green, and Black - Opened.
Extremes:
Blue, Green, Bronze, Orange - Opened.
Red, Silver, Gold - In-hand.

Well it's safe to say that someone really wanted that puzzle. Would have never thought that it would end up going for over 300 pounds.    You could pay for 3/4's of a Collector's Set with that type of money.

Now that this auction is a wrap we can look forward to the promised Blue, Green and Bronze unplated prototype auctions. These might not fetch quite as much as this one did. OTOH, the future of the Green has been in doubt in the past. If it becomes a retired design, it might have higher bids than the other two. For the moment they're still avaiable, but only Chris decides which designs stay in production and which don't.
