Anyway, I've just got my blue and after falling into the main trap for the last 30 mins I'm going to start drawing on paper.
The original thread was merged into this one. Regardless, the advice seems to have worked!

Happy mapping :)

Wow you guys really do get into the mapping of a puzzle

I do this and it works great for me, I originally put the measurements on the hexagonal end of the shaft and used the dot on the sleeve as a reference point, it was only when I started the Ti the other day that I thought it would be far more accurate if I increased the length of the measuring area. So I moved it over to the sleeve and placed a pointer on the shaft end.

Really good thanks. Much better than when I had the measurements on the end of the shaft. You can see my map in the Ti open section if your in it. Id put it up in here, but it wouldnt be very nice for the people that havnt solved it yet

MJShasko wrote:Here's a 2D mapping option that has worked well for me. Sorry to have to include a map snippet ... it shouldn't be of help to 99% of you anyways :)

Requires:

5mm graph paper and a 9/16" washer or
1/4 inch graph paper and a "dime"
millimetre ruler

....
Thanks MJShasko!

I am gearing up to map my Orange (first Revomaze for me).

I plan on keeping everyone posted on my mapping progress in this thread and I will share my final map in the Orange Open section (someday, hopefully)..

I went to the hardware store today to buy a 9/16" washer as suggested above. For anyone else trying to use this method, you need to find a washer that has an Outside Diameter of 9/16". If you buy a washer labeled 9/16" you are getting a washer that has a hole 9/16" across and it is going to be WAY TOO BIG.

Take your ruler with you to the hardware store and make sure the washer is 9/16" across.

I can identify that coin. Maybe Canadians have an advantage when mapping? :)

Where did you find 11x17 graph paper?

Well any 16-18mm coin makes drawing the pin circle easy enough as you incrementally move the pin during the early discover mode and Bluenose coins are cheap :)

The graph paper came from a desk blotter (20+ sheets) from the stationary store.

The bigger the graph paper the better to help visualize and capture the detail ... (case in point: Titanium)
