a little bit my a$$...
i have a Glock 17 ready in case he escapes   :?
i really like him alot until i have to clean his cage...then he is not so cool.
he puts his front legs up and rushes my hand....one time he threw his butt hairs at my hand and he got me!...like razor rash on my hand :o
when he eats its like watching a horror movie that your actually in!
i DO NOT handle him....i will when he stops moving for good...with the giant tweezers i have.
very cool to observe....very easy to maintain....3 crickets a month.

its called a sicilian rose haired turantula..suppose to be very docile..he is not docile
i do really enjoy him tho..and he keeps the kids outta my stuff...
the wife would absolutely kill me if i let him get out....
we would be moving out...
i read a turantula book that claimed handling your spider was risky at best...not to you but to the spider....he is really good looking ,i dont want to mess him up....i know he cant kill me.
dropped from above about 2 feet and he dies.
bites the cat..cat dies.....
i respect it as a creature i purchased and i take many precautions.
i also maintain a nature enviroment for the creature ..this is my main priority
when i got it it acted lethargic ...read the book....began a "sicilian cycle" of light and temparature....the book said most that came through places like "PETSMART" or "PETCO" where next day aired in straight from the wild to these stores.....he literally was in the forest of sicily mere days before i purchased him.....it worked!....he became active...he ate....he looked much better....my spider had enviromental jetlag.... :|
hes is loving life now in the climate controlled enviroment i have created for him.
i have a sound machine playing cricket sounds ..it relaxes his food and makes him feel safer...i never subject him to direct lighting..he has a "moon bulb" in his hood that simulates natural moonlight.....they say he will adjust over time from the natural sunlight to the northern hemisphere timezone...but i dont force him to...its been a really fun biological journey.
:D

Every time STEVE!!! You post a picture of your little friend he takes over the forum. I will post my collection picture as soon as I get my silver!!! I think we should expand this to your Favorite collection I just got my Kuku in so far I like it and I would include it in my "collection" that being said I know that some people have a large collection, and would have to tailor it down to their favorites (envy) but I can put my revo's and their cousins in one frame with no problem.

(funeral music)

We are gathered here today to say farewell to a good friend and inspiration.
although many may have thought of Earl as a nightmare creation,i understood his nature.
He never asked for much, but gave alot of thought provoking insight into a fairly secret world
of arachnids.
I considered him a friend and he will be missed.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder.I personally thought he was a magnificent creature and enjoyed him emensly...i am doing my best not to cry over an insect but failing as he was my charge and i failed him.
I did not realize he was about to molt...the season here is cold and dry...he began his molt
with the tank only at 40% humidity....it needed to be at 80%...he could not escape his exoskeleton and sufficated to death...i killed him.....
i let the humidity drop to stop the crickets from laying eggs in the soil..the baby crickets annoy the spider horribly....
I am having a really hard time dealing with this loss...a replacement is only 20 usd...i am not sure i deserve another chance...
its a sad sad day.....
