Pronunciation

I just realized I've never heard the word REVOMAZE spoken aloud by anyone, ever.

This got me thinking about the correct pronunciation. Is it:
REH-VO (as in "revolutionary,") or
REE-VO (as in "revolving")

Or some other option? I've always assumed it was the first one.

I think Chris prefers the latter. I remember a video somewhere of him commenting on the former pronunciation.

Probably depends on location. I'm in the US and I pronounce it the former. I'd think that would be standard here. I think they would probably say the latter in their home turf.

As a US resident, I prefer the latter way....flows off the tongue a bit better in my opinion.

I've always said the latter just because I figured it was named for revolving. I think it's pronounced differently in the UK, however?

This is the to-mar-to, to-may-to conundrum.

I would always say "ree-vo" as in "relight", "return" or "revolving". To my ears the former sounds off but not necessarily wrong.

It's the same with "semi". I would say "sem-ee" rather than "sem-i".

Po-tay-toes, po-tar-toes, spuds, taters, or tattys - it's all the same really ;)

PS: I live in the Midlands but I'm actually from South Yorkshire. Everything sounds odd to me.

I prefer Rev-Oh-Maze, and will probably continue calling it such myself. However, I've seen it in more than one situation referred to as a Ree-Vo-Maze. Including from Chris himself. I think as an official pronunciation it will have to be what Chris says.

I think we have our answer. Thanks for sharing that.
