Surely you would also make more money if it was set so that it did add time.
I only like the buy now part of ebay myself.

I'm guessing somewhere just under a grand.

And that's exactly why people snipe. Why on earth would you want to give anyone else time to raise their bid.
Exactly like Stet said, work out your max, your real max, and enter it. You'll get it or as cheap as anyone else will allow, or you can't afford it. Simple.
And I'm suspecting on this one if you're not willing to enter 4 digits before the decimal you'll be going home empty handed

That's the minmax issue I was getting at. People prefer to pay their minimum maximum, not their max max ;).

And my daughter thinks the Orange revo tastes awesome. I really should find out from Chris if there are any chemicals in the plating that are bad from her :p before my wife kills me.

Every "live" auction that I have attended, the auctioneer says:
"Going once, going twice, sold!", you still have a chance.

i'll be honest fromm the begining and admit, i am an eBay sniper. but only because i have found that the amount i pay for in item increses dramatically if i bid "fairly". although ebay gives you plenty of info. seeing how many people are watching the item gives you an idea of how many are interested. half will ever bid. then subtract the number of current bids. the remainder are going to put in their highest total bid within the last 5 minutes.

I've known professional ebay auctioneers and this is how they do it, so its how i do it.

then again, there are sellers with dual accounts just to bump their own sales, which is another reason to snipe.

There have been several times I bid higher than I had to early in the bidding only to have someone bid much higher just to see what my max would be. They then claimed it was a mistake and they had the bid withdrawn. Then someone bids just under my max and I paid much more than if I put my only bid in at the last moment. I think the other buyer should have had to buy the item instead of me. The eBay system doesn't work as advertised and so sniping is commonplace.
