Obsession Revomazes

Post by lopeze »

Hi all, I want to start a thread with the clear information of what colours and versions of obsessions are out there, but I will need some help providing the correct information.

Like the extremes, visually, V1 and V2 differ in the body shape.
  • V1 - more squared design with stripes along the sleeve
  • V2 - more round design without stripes along the sleeve
V1 obsessions sticker colour or the sleeve colour correspond directly to the extreme maze.

Obsession V2 with black sleeves and different sticker colour
  • Blue or level 1 - - - - similar to the blue extreme maze
  • Green or level 2 - - - similar to the green extreme maze
  • Red or level 3 PRO - similar to blue pro extreme maze
  • Black - - - - - - - - - - - similar to the black extreme maze
  • ?RED? - - - - - - - - - - ?similar to the red extreme maze?
If data is wrong please comment and I'll rectify the info

Thanks

A green sleeve obsession is based on green extreme but normally green or level 2 is know as black v2 which is a unique maze. a black v1 looks like a v1 style and is based on the black extreme, you can tell which you have got as the v2 the core comes out and v1 you cannot remove the core.
red "R" sticker or lvl3 pro is based on the blue extreme and have to solve 6 times to complete, there is no extreme pro equivalent. As with the black v1 a red obsession is available and is based on the red extreme, I think there was also a red sleeved which is based on the red extreme.

a v1 style maze the core you cannot remove but v2's you can

Here goes...

Obsession v1 - ridged sleeves
Blue v1 (blue sticker) - Blue Extreme
Green v1 (green sticker) - Green Extreme
Black v1 (black sticker) - Black Extreme
Red v1 (red sticker) - Red Extreme

For a *very* short period when the obsessions first came out you could also choose to have either a blue, black or red sleeve. I'm sure I recently posted a pic of these, but I can't find it at the moment. <edit: found it... Re: Post your collection>
You choose the combination of maze / sleeve. Logically you'd have:
a blue maze in a blue sleeve
a black maze in a black sleeve
a red maze in a red sleeve
and a green sleeve in a black sleeve (as green sleeves never existed).

However, there was nothing to stop anyone ordering a red maze in a blue sleeve, or any other combination. The only way to identify the v1 mazes is by the sticker on the end.
To make things more confusing, when the plastic mazes first came out, for a few weeks/months they were called "Extreme"s while the original metal versions were called "Obsession"s. Clearly this was silly, so one day, the names were magically swapped. Therefore, very old threads may refer to the plastic mazes as extremes.

Obsession v2 - smooth sleeves & removable core
Blue v2 (blue sticker) - Blue Extreme
Green v2 - ?never existed as far as I know?
Black v2 (black sticker) - New black maze - not the same as any extreme
Blue Pro v2 (red sticker) - Blue Pro (similar to a Blue Obsession/Extreme but must be solved multiple times)

Obsession Level n - essentially identical to v2 obsessions
Level 1 (blue sticker) - Blue v2 / Blue Extreme
Level 2 (green sticker) - Black v2
Level 3 (red sticker) - Blue Pro v2

I think?

Just out of curiosity, what would a full set of V1 obsessions sell for if I were to sell mine. I know the red and black are the rarest ones in the set and initial retail was about $40-50. Has anyone sold theirs in the past?

That's a reasonable minimum at best for a black and red. I should note that full disclosure should be offered to anyone buying the red ob before selling it to them. I'm happy to spill the beans to any potential buyers if you don't know.

Matt,

I think we are on the same page, as this was not provided to me at the time I bought them. PM me with the disclosure you are talking about.
