As Chris is currently working on getting the Gold, Orange, and Handmade out my guess is that re-designing the black is fairly low on his list of priorities at the moment.

Well it's listed on the website as preorder, and surely Chris would have learnt his lesson about releasing preorders too soon before a puzzle is ready .......

Although; the pre-order release date is showing as last month. So odds are the site page hasn't been looked at in a while.

I ordered the Blue V2 Obsession, Black V2 Obsession and the Orange
Extreme about a month ago. I received the Blue V2 Obsession and
was happy with the new removable core as I commented in another
post. Thought the Black V2 Obsession would be the same core as the
V1, however if it's different, thats ok with me, only was hoping that it
would be released soon. Any possibility that there will be a Green V2
Obsession or Red V2 Obsession made in the future? I guess from
reading other posts, Obsesssions can not be made in Bronze, Silver,
or Gold. Or Orange(limited to 250 pcs.)? Or Titanium(only collector sets)?

I think Chris made it very clear form the start that the plastic Titanium's would only be supplied to collectors buying the sets and he has mentioned to me personally that he will take a very dim view (FWIW) of anyone selling on the plastic Ti on its own.

I'd love to get the chance to buy or try the Titanium when the time comes.. I'll have the full set (minus BlackEX/Handmade) and don't want to invest in another full set just for the extra puzzle.

Maybe Chris can allow those with a full set already to also get the Ti?
