In the meantime (while working late into the night) I have designed the new REVO-Box. Nigel, Nicole and I met with a UK box manufacture and found the quality we hoped.

I have printed the prototpe and it works both as a box and as a stand.

I will see if we can get some samples run off. Chris and Nigel have pictures that they can put up for you.
So, where are those pics of the new BoxStand, or is that StandBox, Nigel and Chris?

I think it prudent to wait until Chris gets it costed to see if it is viable prior to posting pics and raising hopes prematurely. I also need to discuss the competition entries with Chris as the design contains elements of one or two different entries and we want the designer to know first.

The box does look good though! :D

The box is both the packaging and the stand. As has been mentioned, Chris has made a CAD design and 3D printed it, and as a prototype not on;y does it appear to do both jobs well, I think it looks stunning!

In Chris' email he said all he had left to do with it was send the design off [to make sure it's a feasible design and that it's economically viable]. When it gets the okay from them then we'll get the pictures up here, as Nigel said, we don't want to raise hopes just incase there is a problem.

i like the wood/aluminum mix of the revo inside the box...nice elemental mixture....now if you had to do a hanayama 'NEWS' move to get the lid to release...but thats my 'puzzlebox' addiction talking...
the boxes are super cool looking....much better than the multiple 'wine rack' designs....picture yourself handing the RevoBlue to your grandchild..the mystery of the wood...then the shine of the aluminum...the weight...like some kind of "DaVinci Code/Indiana Jones" mix...i personal think these boxes may drop the "toy" rating a few pegs and increase the "Treasure" rating....my set is already slated as an "Heirloom"....hey Rubik..(finger).....Revomaze Stole your lunch,Kissed your girl...and ran over your dog...best puzzle on the global market at the moment....I'm just sayin'.... :D

hmmm ... I have a nice lump of redwood sitting, and a forstner bit that would core it out. May have a look at a home made version at the weekend. Chris' prototype looks good.
