Everybody wants to show off the core but, we need to be responsible adults and talk about core "protection" some if not all should be sheathed whether it come with a length of plastic tubing or a clear lid. Just throwing that out there.

Does that include the production/manufacturing cost that Chris requested as well, or just the idea?

My biggest issue currently is finding someone to approach to request any sort of quote. Lots of companies out there, but the choice of manufacturing techniques, and whether I look at a US or UK quote has paused any forward progress on any of the ideas I threw out.

Yep, and that's the key. With the requirement to provide all of that info, it's a fair bit of effort.

Just an idea (I believe someone said something about this before):

Add a grove (preferably curved) so the certificate can be displayed

I'm currently trying to contact acrylic companies to see if it would be possible to make, and how much it would cost

Just to confirm the closing date for entries will be 31/01/11 and the entries will be judged at the MPP on 05/02/11.

If you haven't been able to assess manufacturing costs please don't let that stop you making a submission as we can assess this later.

what format do you want submissions?
A sketch? photo of a prototype? design file for laser-cutting? STL file for 3d-printing?

For now a sketch will suffice. Should the design go forward then any more advanced formats would be of great use but not essential.
