Actually taking a break from this to clear my head and working on Pyramid 44 over on SW. Maybe thinking about something completely different will clear whatever it is that's blocking me. All of my current roads are dead-ends.

I've got a random solution taking that hint in a whole new direction...
Looking at a Clock Face:

6-11-9 = 5
6 o'clock - 11 hours - 9 hours = 10 o'clock / 2 = 5

8-12-4 = 2
8 o'clock - 12 hours - 4 hours = 4 o'clock / 2 = 2

3-1-9 = ?
3 o'clock - 1 hours - 9 hours = 5 o'clock / 2 = 2.5

Now to work that into a new Brain Teaser
