sorry you can't, it's brass core will dent and damage..... the coating protects and makes it stronger

that would be a LOT more expensive. the metal is more expensive, but it is also harder to cut and requires more time on the machines. so this would increase the cost of the puzzle significantly. not to mention, the brass is also a security feature. it keeps cheaters from being winners.

I'm still not sure that the whole 'denting' theory is true. I recall from the dim and distant past the the handmades are to be unplated. If that is true, then I see no good reason why any other core couldn't be unplated and be perfectly useable?

The handmades were to be unplated because it was supposed to be like Revomaze 1. However, both Revomaze 1 and the unplated blue prototype core I have show more wear on the maze than a Nickel plated version. Indeed, I'm sure I remember Chris saying that the gold plated CE mazes would be nickel plated then gold plated... not that I can see the gold plated ones getting that much play time.

I am sure Chris has ruled out a gold
core because it would be way too soft. ;)

With the cost of Gold these days, even 10k would make the cores VERY VERY expensive..
