Happy Birthday to Chris (01/06/24) 🎊 + Black Lite's being prepared for assembly

I would like to take this opportunity to say a very Happy Birthday to the puzzle creator and director, Chris for tomorrow (June 1st) 🎁🎂🎈we hope your day is filled with joy and laughter, and thank you for your long-time devotion to creating puzzles that people love.

It's been a great week at HQ, the assembly parts for the Black's have been made and the batch of maze assembly tools has finished, each one will be grinded to create a nice and smooth finish on the surface.

Over the weekend and continuing through to next week, the Black's will be assembled and I can start to package and get them out of the door, as soon as booking has taken place, I will post an update to confirm.

We are looking forward to confirming the highly anticipated new Lite beginning to be sent in June. Chris has snapshotted content of the making of the maze assembly tools 🤗

Lite’s assembly (progress) and snippets

Dear all,

The assembly of the Black's is progressing well this week, we'd like to show you the layout so far. Each shaft has had the certificates, plugs, and grub screws installed. The pin assembly is nearing completion, and the shafts will be inserted into the sleeves shortly.

The silver cans on top are maze assembly tools that will be sent inside the box. When they're all ready, booking will begin this week, and orders will be distributed in batches.

For any updates to your order, please contact us at helpdesk@thepuzzleworkshop.uk

We do have 3 spaces left for the Handmade V2 puzzle - special edition (after contacting collectors in late May) if you are interested, please email rachel@thepuzzleworkshop.uk

The maze is the same as the original V1 except the sleeve is from VAULTMAZE which was spares from batch 1, there will be a fixed pin on the outside, and the label will be brass to make it extra special.

I uploaded some highlights of Chris working on the Black shafts earlier this week; please go to https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/post/b ... s-assembly

Thanks everyone,

Rachel & Chris

Black Lite’s delivery response and updates

Dear all,

We are writing to you today, to discuss the amazing response back from the Black’s and after consideration, updates to the Lite’s we will be persuing to ensure we can strive to provide the best puzzle experience to you.

We’d first like to bring to your attention the sizes of the can, where we found the pin mechanism did come apart from an experienced customer, after the maze was solved. The can sizing is 6.005mm to 6.010mm where we try to aim for 6.008mm. This creates the required interference fit. The 6.005mm may be too small, we’re now looking at knurling the side, to provide a mechanical grip, or gluing the can in place, to stop the pin assembly coming out.

Please note, that when the pin is in the standard maze height, it should be more or less level, with the top of the can. If the pin is lower than the top of the can, it might be the can is moving out of the sleeve.

As this is the pilot, we want to find better ways to improve our workings. We will be applying tighter control over the size before the can is used, as the tolerances are extremely tight and fine.

The next point to note, is the anodising on the maze. It will be scratched by the pin, what we have found, is we may not anodise the maze core, we instead colour anodise the sleeve, like we used to do. This will allow the polishing of the core once removed. When anodising, this hardens the surface and can make the maze walls brittle, if a large amount of pressure is applied, small pieces can be broken off, that will lodge in the maze. While we are trying to avoid this, we understand excess force, in some cases can happen. We are going to try to avoid thin walls, which may be more difficult on the complex puzzles.

As part of an investigation to one of the users, it may of been discovered, the pin is not reaching the deeper reset channels by approximately 0.2 of a millimetre, this may allow after continuous use and wear, ability to get into areas, not designated, as the pin is not reaching the depth. We will be changing the pin, to ensure it does reach the reset correctly by adding more length to the pin, this is the reason we did the pilot, to listen to feedback and make improvements.

We’ve noted in our assembly and usage, is the sleeves are made and held by internal clamping on our CNC machine, this clamping may cause a slight indentation inside the sleeve, which can be occasionally felt when playing the mazes. Learning from this, we will be running a deburr down the tube before we send it for anodising to make it as smooth as possible. Other than this, it seems we’ve got a good result with the Black and we’ve already sent out a Blue, and it will be evaluated. We’ll be sending Mike’s Blue to test with his family, to answer the question, “would you give family or friends, this puzzle?”

Everybody’s enthusiasm is giving great feeling that once we’ve got this right, we will have an enjoyable product again, we can concentrate on for the future. While the classics could be resureccted if there is enough new people who would like to get hold of them. We thank everybody on Discord for their involvement, belief, and assistance in helps us get this product to a wider audience.

On a final note, we are so pleased people are enjoying these puzzles. While it’s taken a lot of time, we have identified areas we can build upon and hoping to do technical briefings together, as we appreciate people’s feedback, to ensure we get the best feedback possible.

Best regards,

Rachel and Chris

Hi all, we had a get together this week to discuss projects and working alongside production 🙂

We have good news, the V4’s are getting closer to completion and the Handmade’s are being worked on this week for batch 3. In the meantime, the Black Lite’s are continuing to be mailed out by myself, we’ve had a top up of both the 1.3mm Allen keys and more assembly tools are going to be made to get them all completed.

In July, we would like to return to the production for Vaultmaze, the pack 1’s for those who haven’t got theirs yet and once this is complete, the 6 mazes in pack 2 and 3, for August. After working out the timings, it takes 2 weeks to complete 20+ pack 1’s (with constant machining) some breaks will be added and I’ll prioritise booking them in once they’re with me.

The additional components for the enhanced/luxury make a great difference to the machining timings and methods will be looked at to shorten them. We will strive to continue making the maze rings highly enjoyable and liaising with our testers, to ensure they meet the accuracy and quality, whilst working with very fine tolerances (we’d like to show more of this in content) some of the trials we can be met with while learning from.

Our great appreciation to all for your continual backing and belief in the project and we do too 🙏 we look forward to sharing further progress and good news with you soon.

Kind regards,

Rachel

REVOMAZE Lite (special editions) announcement

Dear all,

We are very pleased about the Black launch feedback. So, Rachel and I have decided on our full plan for the rest of the REVOMAZE Lite series.

We had originally planned to launch different options throughout the year but feel people can plan what they would like to get and when. Having the plan out there, we can create a production around the feedback and make sure the puzzles continue to meet expectations.

We planned the series by the maximum number of different colours we could anodise the parts to, and each puzzle became increasingly challenging. We have a total of 19 levels mapped out as follows:

Introductory
Level 01 (10/100) – (BU) Blue (INTRO SET)
Level 02 (15/100) – (XX) SAPPHIRE (INTRO SET SE)
Level 03 (20/100) – (GR) Green (INTRO SET)
Level 04 (25/100) – (XX) EMERALD (INTRO SET SE)
Level 05 (30/100) – (GY) Grey (INTRO SET)
Level 06 (35/100) – TITANIUM (INTRO SET SE)
Level 07 (40/100) – Purple (INTRO SET)

Intermediate
Level 08 (45/100) – (BK) Black (Pilot LE 001-125) Sold out!
Level 09 (50/100) – (TE) Teal (INTER SET SE)
Level 10 (55/100) – (GM) Gunmetal (INTER SET SE)
Level 11 (60/100) – (CU) Copper (INTER SET SE)
Level 12 (65/100) – (TQ) Turquoise (LE 01-50 LIMITED EDITION SET) Sold out!

Advanced
Level 13 (70/100) – (RE) Red (ADVANCED SET)
Level 14 (75/100) – (LM) Lime (LE 01-50 LIMITED EDITION SET) Sold out!
Level 15 (80/100) – (BR) Bronze (ADVANCED SET)
Level 16 (85/100) – (YE) Yellow (LE 01-50 LIMITED EDITION SET) Sold out!
Level 17 (90/100) – (AG) Silver (ADVANCED SET)
Level 18 (95/100) – (OR) Orange (LE 01-50 LIMITED EDITION SET) Sold out!
Level 19 (100/100) – (AU) Gold (ADVANCED SET)

Sets
INTRO SET (BU, GR, GY, PU)
ADVANCED SET (RE, BR, AG, AU)
LIMITED EDITION SET (01-50) (TQ, LM, YE, OR)
INTRO SET SPECIAL EDITION (TBD1, TBD2, TBD3)
INTERMEDIATE SET SPECIAL EDITION (TE, GM, CU)
8 SET (BU, GR, GY, PU, RE, BR, AG, AU)
8 SET + BLACK PILOT (BU, GR, GY, PU, RE, BR, AG, AU, BK) Sold out!

Now all the limited edition puzzles have been sold, we are working next on the INTRO SET before going on to the ADVANCED SET and then the LIMITED EDITION SET. We wanted a few mazes around the holiday season, so we left levels 50, 55 and 60 for this. But based on positive feedback, instead of making them limited edition and waiting for the festive holidays, we have created them as SPECIAL EDITION (SE) and fitted them into the current production plan.

SPECIAL EDITIONS

Teal Lite: https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/produc ... al-edition

Gunmetal Lite: https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/produc ... al-edition

Copper Lite: https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/produc ... al-edition

Intermediate set (3 special edition puzzles) https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/produc ... on-puzzles

Category: https://www.thepuzzleworkshop.uk/special-edition

We have two groups, INTRO SE and INTER SE. The SE INTER are a group of three puzzles that are above the BLACK PILOT but not as high as the RED ADVANCED level. Why are they SE? Well, we are making all SE puzzles with a brass maze instead of the usual aluminium. This will make them slightly heavier but not as heavy as the classic REVOMAZE’s. The sleeve will be the level colour.

They will all be numbered and engraved on the end like the LIMITED EDITION range. The maze will give a better experience than the aluminium mazes. We will, however, continue making these while people still want them unlike the LIMITED EDITION’s that have sold out.

We have three more SPECIAL EDITION Lite's that will be part of a user design competition we would like to do in 2025 and hope to involve a younger and wider community. Out of the 6 SE puzzles, 3 will be designed by Chris Pitt and 3 will be designed by the user base. People can choose their favourites in order 1-6 of the SE sets. The chosen designs will be from the under 16 age group and for the over 16 age group and a special award for the best design (please note all designs will be static only).

Reserving the mazes now will have the benefit of fixing the price and will ensure you have all the puzzles as they are made as we will be reevaluating the costs and adjusting the prices on all mazes. All those who have ordered already have a fixed price.

On the INTER SET SE – we are introducing a ticket position (that will be emailed to you) that we will ship by. This is as per order date and time, and we will reflect this on the product page so you will know when your shipping date will be made. Please note that all non-LE puzzles can be purchased on their own.

We will reserve the first 50 numbers for the special edition puzzles in case anyone has the LIMITED EDITION SET. The ticket number emailed to you will be the shipping order and will not be the number on the puzzle which will be engraved as follows: TE0051SE – GM0051SE – GM0051SE and so on.

We are excited by this series and have been doing a large amount of work on the designs to make them as enjoyable as possible. We also would like to introduce stands and cases to display the puzzles as well as show people’s collections and their displays on the website.

While this is proceeding, we are still working on the VAULTMAZE project and getting the outstanding orders to the users. We will be sharing further updates in the Summer that we will be looking forward to.

Looking ahead, we're planning to introduce batch 2 later in the year, with shipping expected during the late Autumn/Winter months. Additionally, we'll be launching the Sapphire, Emerald, and Titanium as the introductory set (3 special edition puzzles) next year, as part of a user design competition for both under 16's and over 16's.

The 4 set (limited edition) has completely sold out, with 49 sets sold and 1 set split into 4 individual puzzles. The limited edition number for the 4 set will remain fixed at 50 overall.

We want to express our gratitude to all of you who recently signed up for the intermediate set (3 special edition puzzles) introduced on June 28th. Ticket numbers are being updated on the product page, and Rachel will be sending out confirmation emails soon. Thank you all for your support.

Black Lite feedback:

It's been fantastic reading your responses to the new Black Lite. If you'd like to share your experiences and progress so far, we'd love to hear from you. Your feedback will be really valuable as we work on the upcoming Lite's. We plan to reveal the colors for the sleeves once a batch has been produced and sent to the new anodising firm we're collaborating with. I'm looking forward to keeping you updated on the latest developments.
