I can QFT that they lyrebird is in fact real. I went and saw one in Adelaide zoo. It mimic'ed the sound of construction work across the road , including a reverse beeper, drill, rock breaker, and passing traffic.

its an amazing world we live in.

they often mimic other birds mating calls, such as the kookaburra, and they come swooping in.. Really weird to see.

Only the female liar bird can tell its a fake call. They try to attract females by having the most complex, best sounding calls. They LOVE trying to do anything electronic, such as cameras (the click from shutters), mobile phone rings, etc.. As they dont occur in nature, so its quite compex for them.

They dont however speak as far as im aware.. Might wanna double check that tho.
