I should imagine that they will. Chris emailed me back and said:
This is not a common issue but is also not unique. Each of the 494 has its own certificate (not duplicated) so from a challenge point it is ok, but from the point you have raised I am upset like yourself.
He suspects that it has occurred due to the transfer to new engineers:
All the new puzzles from our new engineers are in the 1500’s – this Scrolls puzzle may have been on the side from the old engineers and was assembled. They did the numbering manually, so may have stopped the machine and forgot the number was in the back end before restarting
Chris did seem pretty mortified in his email and offered to pay to have Scrolls' green sent back and sent with a new unique number.

My response is fairly laid back! I was the first to own and open green GR00494 - I have my own puzzle with a valid certificate and I am not particularly bothered if it has been duplicated (I am old and wise!? ) However if Scrolls would like a uniquely numbered puzzle then Chris will pay for everything and arrange to replace it with a new one made by the new engineers.

I will leave it in your hands Scrolls - contact Chris to let him know what you would prefer.

If it was me, I would keep it. Different Certs so it should be ok, also it makes the puzzle sort of magical by having a twin. Is there a way to see who has the one from old engineers and who from the new?

I would be interested to see which is from the old engineers and which is from the new. But for now I must set my down for a bit, because I have no new ideas even while studying my map.. Green twin of Kevin's Green, I will beat you soon enough!

Edit 7:42p: ok it has been down for way to long! Back to solving!
