I have a Red Obsession, I had quickly mapped it and found the rainbow about which people are mentioning. I hadn't quite managed to get to the end of it.
I left it aside for a few months (I have periodic bad RSI), and a few friends played with it. When I came back to it in the last week I found that the rainbow is now broken in a manner similar to others have described in this thread.
I would have just got a new one BUT I can get back on to the rainbow from one of the new "ends". Plus, I can get on to the obvious "tail" of the rainbow (my red always made a clicking noise at that point) and go up and down this rail to the stop at the bottom.
Is this maze still solvable since I can get back on to the second half of the rainbow? If I PM someone a sketch can they check for me? There appears to be some debris in the tracks, but after a tiny bit of forcing, I can explore all the reset channels again.

I'd say PM your map to Bluesign2k or Barcared.

If I understand your description well, and if debris does not block your path (which is a realistic risk), your maze should be as solve-able as before. Buying a new one is not an option as they are no longer for sale.

Well I decided while I'm banging my head in the swamp on my Silver, I'd revisit my Red 
What a mistake to make
I'm pretty sure I've managed to map the whole think, but thus far, although I've got damn close, I've yet to make the last sweep of the rainbow
I'm not beat yet though
