I bought them used on eBay - I found out later that the seller is a forum member.
I'm progressing with the mapping. I think I can already make out a shape! But I think I'll need to develop a more precise, to-scale drawing method - the way I'm mapping now is OK to find your way, but produces maps that are pretty much "deformed" - not good with Black!

Re: BlackV1 Progress and Help
Some have solved the V1 without mapping at all, I'm not one of them. I think most would encourage you to map this one carefully.

I know, I know! I've read all the posts here, and I *am* mapping. I can already make out the shape. It's only that I want to make my mapping better, especially for this maze!

Re: BlackV1 Progress and Help
I use a $2 micrometer and a paper mm rule taped to the shaft. A normal mm ruler could be used instead of a micrometer.

Re: BlackV1 Progress and Help
just a little addition to that, if you do decide to start taping mm rules to the shaft make sure it's only on the nut at the end of the shaft (or where the nut would be on an obs!!). you don't want to stick anything to the shaft that goes inside the sleeve cos you'll have a hard time if it gets stuck.pcad wrote:I use a $2 micrometer and a paper mm rule taped to the shaft. if you're interested in mapping, check out the Mapping Challenge thread. It's where people have commented on how they map

Re: BlackV1 Progress and Help
Just opened it! I really wish I could see the core.
I think I read somewhere that someone modified their V1 obsession to actually remove the core. What kind of modification was it? Was it difficult and/or destructive? I really want to see the maze...

Re: BlackV1 Progress and Help
Wow, a whole year has passed since the last post in this thread. I like to be fashionably late.
I just received my Black Obsession V1 today. In the last 6 months, I've assembled a wonderful collection of Revomazes, many of which I thought would be impossible to acquire. This latest one fills the last spot in my 9 way box, so it will likely be the last Revo I buy. I'm in no rush to open it. In fact, I'm going to do the complete opposite of what I normally do. I'm going to try to solve this without a map first. And then, of course, I'll make a carefully detailed map to discover the secret I've read about in this thread.
I'm generally terrible at making mind maps, so this will probably take me a while to solve...

Absulutely not. You MUST map this one to get the full experience.
