What do you mean it slid out? did it come all the way out into 2 separate pieces where you could get your certificate or did it just slide out to where you could fully see the serial number on the side but still all connected?

Sounds really weird!
I can't imagine how that would be possible.
As walther said; do you have two separate pieces completely free of each other (sleeve and shaft) ? Or are they still connected? If so then you just found the reset...

Sounds like the reset line syndrome! Sent the registration "Opening Instructions"....
Waiting to hear back if that was the case

Could have been much worse. You could have been right and actually did get a faulty puzzle
And now the fun begins
